Legal Basis
The basis for this cookie notice is the amended Electronic Communications Act (Official Gazette No. 109/2012; abbreviated as ZEKom-1), which entered into force at the beginning of 2013. It introduced new rules regarding the use of cookies and similar technologies for storing information, or accessing information already stored, on a user’s computer or mobile device.
What are cookies and why does a website need them?
A cookie is a small text file that is downloaded to a user’s computer when they visit a website. It typically contains:
- the name of the server from which the cookie was sent;
- the lifespan of the cookie;
- a value—usually a randomly generated unique number.
A cookie on its own does not contain or collect information. However, when read by a server in conjunction with a web browser, it can help a website provide a more user-friendly experience—for example, by remembering previous purchases or user account details. Only the server that sent the cookie can read and use that specific cookie.
On a trustworthy website, cookies can enhance the user experience. Conversely, they can also be used in ways that infringe upon an individual’s privacy. Cookies may be stored for varying lengths of time—either only for the duration of a browsing session or for a much longer period.
Which cookies we use on this site and why
On this website, we use only those cookies permitted under the Electronic Communications Act (ZEKom-1). We employ exclusively those cookies that are strictly necessary for the operation of this website. To track site traffic statistics, we use a system that records only a session cookie; it does not track your subsequent behavior on this website or in relation to other websites. By continuing to use this website, you consent to the use of the cookies described below.
