The Stele candle makers have passed their knowledge down like the flame of life — from generation to generation. Over a century ago, Janko Stele extended the burning time of memorial candles with the first patented wind- and rain-resistant lid.

Jože Plečnik
Innovation in candle-making at Stele was never limited to function — it also embraced creativity. In 1950, inspired by family friend and architect Jože Plečnik, the Stele family designed the first decorative candle molds, using traditional pastry molds as a base. These classic Stele candles can still be found today at Lectar’s House candle shop in Kamnik.
